Is this possible??? I've got 10hrs of incredible footage that has been perched on the back shelf for 4-5 years. Out of 10 tapes (miniDV) I've got at least 5 that iMovie wont accept as viable. They were filmed in the tropics, and I fear that they have mould or something on then.... First thing I noticed was the audio becoming increasingly "scratchy" and cutting-out. Then It seems that when that reaches a certain point, it will import only .03 seconds of each clip. That is to say, a one minute clip will be broken down to 60+ "clips"...and I can see digital glitches(little squares) throughout this process....
Does anyone know/heard of a place I can have these restored to new (still editable) tapes???????
Bless~

Re: Mini DV Restoration?
Tue, June 9, 2009 - 7:45 AMI suppose the first thing that comes to mind is your tape head. If you are running old tape through that it may or may not have moisture. You may want to run a tape cleaner through after every time you pass a questionable tape through. If the signal drop is a result of moisture while filming then I think yer screwed. If you reviewed the tapes (the 5 questionable ones) after the trip and they were okay then your data in theory should be there still and the problem is a current one.
