I'm working on a film that involves a lawyer named Greg accidentally becoming a hitman. I've been trying to think of a witty name but so far i'm strapped for ideas. Anyone got any suggestions?

    Alan,
What genre? Is it a comedy or drama?

Comedy ~ Habeas Corpse - Us
    Drama ~ Habeas Corpus

    or something like...
    "Death Penalty"
    or
    "Writ of Death"
    could go either way.

With a few more details about the plot I could think of more possibilities. Oh, and when it comes time to cast, why not consider me for a role!

If you asked my manager (a very very Hollywood entrenched type) - he'd say, "The Hitman"

I guarantee you. "It's easy for people to say, understand, and the studio's going to change the title anyway later on." (a paraphrase from when he changed two of my titles before sending them out. But, I got tons of meetings off them, so maybe he's right. Afterall, he used to be a studio executive.

BUT if you're planning on going indie with it. Make it stand out. Long is okay. Someting that you have to have an explanation for is better.

If it applies at all, I think Sherpa nailed a great one with "Accidental Psychopath." If that works with the story - it's a great title and would work in both studio and indie realms.

I'd guess there are something like 75 movies in the world named The Hitman.

Well... I'm not condoning the generic naming of movies, was just pointing somethng out which was a phenomenon I became aware of. Usually my titles were a little abstract and before sending them out, he renamed every movie. One of them I'll push for the original name if it ever gets made. Personally, I love "Accidental Psychopath" and I don't think even a studio exec would want that name changed. If it were a comedy, "Accidental Hitman."

        1. Sat sau ji wong (1998, Wei Tung)
aka "The Hitman" - Hong Kong (English title)
        aka "Hitman"
        2. The Hitman (1991, Aaron Norris)
        3. Aru koroshiya (1967, Kazuo Mori)
        aka "The Hitman"
        4. The Hitman (2002/I short, Marquise Lee)
        5. The Hitman (2002/II short, David Haynes)
        6. The Hitman (1997, Gene Zider...)
        7. The Hitman (2003 video, Robby D.)

Thanks everyone, i forgot that i post this and that's why i never replied. I ended up picking "Accidental Hitman" after flipping stations late at night and coming across "Accidental Stripper." But I just found out that name was actually proposed by Mark so the credit offically goes to him (let me know what name to put in the credits under "Special Thanks").
And yes, it is a comedy.

Well, I really appreciate all the suggestions, but my friend is having the same problem. We are only about 2 weeks from the premeier of his movie and he still hasn't come up w/ a name. I told him i'd ask the ppl on Tribe so, here's the plot overview:

btw, it was inspired by The Departed

There is a gang (the gang has no official name) that the movie follows. They basically run a small suburban town until a new gang (named the Black Hand) tires to move into town. Rivalry ensues and the protagonsist gang endes up getting sold out by one of there own.

The members of the protagonist gang are all really nice guys when not "on the clock" and the film conveys that very well.

The only idea that I have come up w/ that is "Hostile Take-Over" but I'm not the biggest fan of it so any suggestions whould be greatly appreciated.
