I have been asked to shoot an independent feature on HD video that will be released on 35mm to some theaters that are not digital. Does anyone have experience in this area with regard to framing, lighting, etc. ? I'd like to know what I'm getting myself into before signing on.

Sat, January 5, 2008 - 2:37 PMI'd look into the RED at this point - it will look way better than HD and be a lot cheaper than 35mm.

Re: Shooting HD video for theater release
Sun, January 6, 2008 - 1:39 PMIt's a revolutionary camera. I've shot 2 commercials and one music video with it so far. I own the 89th camera they made.
The most interesting thing is the lack of grain yet high resolution. For doing anything with a visual effects edge, it's pretty unbeatable.
For the low and micro indie folks - pay special attention to RED in April around NAB when they'll be introducing their pocket camera. My gutt tells me whatever they introduce will be the new standard of the indie feature crowd. -
